I’ve been on a clean and healthy eating spree (again). This time I’ve teamed it up with Crossfit sessions that make me want to eat better on a daily basis. My go-to meal would be a chicken stir fry with broccoli or paneer with other veggies. Sometimes I throw in some quinoa there if it’s lunch. I wanted something different yet healthy and so I ordered for some tofu which I hadn’t had before. I hate soy milk and I had this mind block about soy products. But as it turns out tofu isn’t that bad. Also, it has less fat than paneer which makes it ideal for dinner.
All I did was marinate tofu in some chilli garlic paste, soy sauce and maple syrup for 10 mins. You can either bake it or pan fry it like I did with very little oil. It’s that easy. This tofu dish can be an appetizer or a part of your meal bowl along with blanched broccoli, quinoa and other vegetables. The best part is that it’s super tasty and satisfying. Don’t let anyone make you believe that you’re eating ‘diet food’. Give them a taste and see how they’d want more.
Tofu – 200 gm (cubed)
Sesame or any other oil – 2 tsp
Chilli garlic paste – 1 tbsp (you could also use 3 garlic cloves grated or 2tsp garlic paste mixed with chilli sauce)
Soy sauce – 2 tsp
Maple syrup or honey – 1 tbsp
Mix ingredients for glaze and marinate tofu cubes in it for 10 mins.
Heat a nonstick pan and grease it with the sesame oil.
Pan fry the tofu without crowding it on the pan for about 30-40 seconds on both sides.
Take it off the pan and brush the remaining marinade on the tofu.
You could garnish this with toasted sesame seeds which I completely forgot about or even spring onions which again I forgot about.
